Film Processing FAQ

What film do you process?

We process all kinds of film! Everything from 35mm to medium format to odd film types like 110, 126, 127, 620, and APS. This includes color negative (C-41), black and white, and slide film (E-6). All color negative (C-41) is processed in house. Black and white and E-6 is processed at our out lab, but scanned and printed in house. We even process disposable cameras!

What’s your turnaround time on film?

We have one of the fastest turnaround times in the industry! As film shooters ourselves, we know how hard it can be to wait for your film scans to drop into your inbox. So we decided to kill it on turnaround time and quality. All C-41 film is processed, scanned, and printed within 1-2 business days on average. Since we see a larger volume of color negative film, we are able to process in house. With black and white and E-6, we see much fewer rolls so we choose to process at an out lab. Black and white film is about 2 weeks and E-6 is 2-4 (depending on if the film is getting mounted in traditional slide mounts).

Should I get high resolution files?

We think so! Getting high res scans allows you to archive your images for the future. If you plan to print larger than 8×10 with fine detail, you’ll want to opt for high res. It also allows you to crop your images and still retain detail. With our high res option, we also allow you to weigh in on tone, highlight, and shadow detail preferences. This allows you to refine how your scans look. Not sure what all that means? No worries! We love talking about film so stop by or give us a call and we’ll be happy to explain this all in more detail.
