Advanced Film Workshop – Class Description
Join Taylor as she shares her two decades of film photography experience including a wide range of cameras, real examples of film stocks, shooting conditions, metering, and more!
This workshop is designed for photographers with a basic understanding of 35mm film. You should be comfortable loading film, adjusting aperture and shutter speed, and ready to deepen your knowledge. We’ll explore 35mm in greater depth and introduce the world of medium format photography.

- Review aperture and shutter speed: Refresh your understanding of how these key settings control exposure and creative effects.
- Advanced metering techniques: Learn how to interpret your light meter and make manual adjustments for perfect exposure.
- Shooting in various lighting conditions: Master techniques for handling bright sunlight, low light, and everything in between.
- Medium format – including different film formats and cameras: Explore the advantages of medium format photography and see if it’s the next step for you.
- Getting started with medium format: Learn about what cameras and formats are on the market and which one suits your shooting style.
- Double exposures: Discover how to layer multiple images on a single frame for creative and artistic effects.
- Shooting expired film: Understand how age affects film and how to compensate for shifts in color and exposure.
- Working with a film lab: Insider tips on how to get the best results from your local lab (hey, that’s us!), including what to ask for when developing and scanning your film.
- Archiving your photos & printing: Learn best practices for storing negatives, digitizing your work, and making high-quality prints.

We’re located in the Foxshire Plaza on Fruitville Pike where there is ample parking in the shopping plaza’s parking lot right in front of the store!
Age Restriction
By limiting our classes to adults, we can tailor our content and teaching methods to better meet the needs and expectations of this demographic. We believe that this policy enhances the quality of our educational offerings and the overall experience of our adult learners. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
Exceptions: Youth age 16 or 17 may attend with an accompanying adult. Both participants would need to secure a seat.
Cancellation Policy
- Up to 7 days prior to the start of the class you can cancel with a full refund or reschedule for the same class from the list of available upcoming dates.
- From 6 days prior to 48 hours prior to the start of the class there are no refunds, but you can reschedule the same class from the list of available upcoming dates.
- Less than 48 hours prior to the start of the class there are no refunds or opportunities to reschedule without a new registration fee.

Classes must have a minimum of 3 participants to proceed. In the event of cancellation due to low enrollment, you will be notified and offered a full refund or the option to transfer to a future class.
- If Perfect Image cancels the class for any reason participants can receive a full refund or choose to reschedule for a comparable upcoming class.
